Helping orphans

in Partnership with [Empty The Orphanage Ministry , USA]

Our organisation, Hope Ministries Zimbabwe, Since 2010, Empty the Orphanage Ministry (ETOM) has been working alongside Empty the Orphanage, USA, a ministry which shares the vision of our ministry to help move orphaned children into Christian families, has taken upon itself in coming up with a number of projects that help alleviate the plight of widows, orphans and members of our society who live under the poverty datum line and one of the areas is Pashu Communal lands in Binga District, Zimbabwe.  The area is located in the North western part of the country where there is arid land because of low rainfall, the land is not suitable for agriculture. Binga District is located in the Northern part of the country, the areas lies under region five, it is one of the hottest areas in the country with temperatures soaring to as high as 49 degrees celsius. The area is also malaria and tsetse fly infested. There is little development in the area.

The most affected are children especially orphans and widows who have no proper care and protection, no access to education, no clothing and at times no medical care.  Families in this region live under $2 a day, the economic situation is not stable, and most are not working or have migrated to other cities and towns to look for jobs.

After having received a piece of land in which we intend to develop an orphanage complex, HOPE & ETOM have already put a few structures in place namely, fencing of the piece of land, a borehole with electric pump, a garden and a chapel which is almost complete.  Our dream is of a having a complete complex comprising Residential family houses (The orphans will be absorbed in a family set-up), a Dining Hall, a skills training/development centre and a clinic.  Currently we have 125 children under the orphanage whom we are fully supporting, the children’s lives have remarkably improved and it is our hope to set up a centre named New Hope Home which would be a starting point for many orphans and vulnerable children.

Project Goals:
The program includes the following:

  • To set up a Children’s Home for Orphaned children
  • To create a home environment for Orphaned children
  • To train a child for responsible living
  • To offer Education and Skills to orphaned children
  • Create employment for the community.
  • The reduction in number of people in need of food.
  • Improvement in health

Our main objectives includes:

  • The program will help in alleviating the plight of the orphans, widows and the community in general.
  • Constructing a home structure which comprises 16 family houses with couples where the children will be placed.
  • Initiating a child into a home setup.
  • Training all the couples whom the children will be placed under.
  • Offering life skills training to the children and the community.
  • Providing adequate healthcare to the children and the surrounding community by constructing a clinic.
  • Offering educational assistance to all children by sending every child to the surrounding schools
  • Spiritually nurturing all the children in a Godly manner, by having a chapel built.

Since they will be a lot of activities at the orphanage, employment will be created for the locals, the training of skills will be open to the community to utilise.  Skills training include carpentry, building, cutting and designing; also offered will be agriculture training including market gardening.  The sinking of a borehole has already ensured that the community has access to clean drinking water.  This will help also curb diseases like bilharzia and other water borne diseases found in open unprotected areas.

The program undertakes to construct homes which will house the orphans on their transition.  Construction of 16 homes that will house 5 orphans and a family will be constructed.  The orphans will be absorbed in a family set-up.

At the present moment the organisation is seeking to build at least one house so as to start the orphanage complex running and the housing of some of the orphans whom we are taking care of.  With funds acquired from our friends and donors we would like to be able to construct this first house as a stepping stone to the orphanage complex we need to build in the village of Pashu, Binga District in Zimbabwe.

The project intends to address the basic needs of orphans that is, shelter and food.  It is envisaged that if shelter is provided it would be easier to provide food when orphans are in place.  Most orphans are vulnerable, because they do not have families to look after them.  This first stage then addresses the security of the children.

Together with Empty the Orphanage Ministry we are making this project a reality, although still in its initiation stage, we need partners who share the same vision, who will provide the necessary support, morally and financially, Click here to donate

Outreaches | Pastors and Leaders Conferences | Equipping of Leaders

 Background

HOPE began its training programs in 2007 and has since managed to provide practical training in biblically sound, culturally relevant and

needs-based leadership programs for the pastors and church leaders throughout the nation. Since 2007, we have trained over 2400 pastors

and leaders through our innovative and life-changing workshops. HOPE addresses the need for pastoral leadership training by organizing

conferences, workshops and seminars on Discipleship, Bible study methods, integrity, culturally relevant evangelism outreaches, church

planting, visionary leadership, stewardship and family priority.  The intricate and strong social systems common among African communities

make pastors and church lay leaders very influential in their communities.

As a result, HOPE views the Equipping of church leaders as mission

critical to achieving lasting and holistic transformation across

communities.

HOPE is committed to equipping men and women in Southern Africa

to answer the urgent call for visionary leadership in the church and in

communities hardly reached by the Gospel. Through a Biblically sound,

culturally relevant and needs-based leadership program, HOPE trains

pastors, church lay leaders, women, youth, civil society leaders, local

government officials, military chaplains and tribal elders in the biblical

principles of visionary leadership, discipleship, mentorship, evangelism

and community initiatives. Using a ‘train the trainer’ teaching approach,

HOPE is developing leaders at the heart of African communities who are

equipped and empowered to effect change where it is most desperately

needed. In this way, HOPE is providing essential skills and tools necessary

to help move Africa from bad leadership to visionary leadership; from

dependency to self-sufficiency.

HOPE operates across Zimbabwe as well as neighbouring countries; in

areas where the need for pastoral leadership training cannot be overstated.

In many of the communities where HOPE serves, pastors have never had any

Biblical or theological training. As a result, traditional beliefs and practices

are often presented alongside biblical truths. Worse still, many of the pastors

serving in the more remote villages have no Bibles (or may have one Bible that

they are forced to share among 30 to 40 people) yet they are expected to

disciple and lead their congregants.

What we need to continue with our programmes :
One of the best investments we can make with our mission is in the area of

training and equipping pastors and Christian workers. The local pastor and

Christian worker, best understand the cultural mind-set of their fellow

countrymen and the hindrances that keep them from embracing the gospel.

When they are trained and equipped with the Word of God they can reproduce

themselves over and over again, thus increasing the effectiveness of the

equipping mission. Therefore, HOPE has a strong commitment to training

local pastors and Christian workers. Our vision is to see the church grow

spiritually, numerically as well as financially.  With this in mind we have a

need for churches in the International realm who have overseas mission work

at heart, particularly in Zimbabwe.

We provide a platform for the International churches or mission societies to

come and partner with us in 3 ways

Evangelizing the lost
Equipping the saints
Encouraging the believers

This would work as follows:- We would love the churches and mission societies to come and train our pastors and church leaders in leadership development within our body and also partner with us in church planting, where we would like to see at least 12 churches planted in a single year. We would love for them to partner with us in hosting our conferences. Lastly, we would also want the International churches and mission societies to bring in teams who will be able to conduct outreaches in terms of revivals, crusades and street evangelism in Africa.

VISION 1000-1000-1000 BY 2020

1000 bicycles to 1000 pastors to plant 1000 churches by 2020

Pastors in rural areas walk more than 30km per day doing

ministry work, there is a great need to equip them with the right

tools needed for them to effectively further their work, if these

pastors can get a bicycle, they can double the ministry work in a

day. We seek your prayers and financial support as we encourage

the Pastors and church leaders who are in front of the battle field

in Zimbabwe.  One of our greatest challenges in Zimbabwe is that

of transportation anyone can invest in the Kingdom by donating a

bicycle for $100. PRAY FOR US or  Donate Wheels for the Ministry
